Functie

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive team, responsible for driving the company’s financial strategy and ensuring operational efficiency as the business scales. The CFO will shape the financial framework necessary to support the company’s rapid growth while providing business insights and guiding the company toward its next phase of development.
 
This role requires strong analytical thinking and crisp execution. Establishing a solid foundation in financial accounting, reporting, and business planning is critical. The CFO will deliver clear financial insights and strategic guidance to address any unforeseen financial challenges, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader goals.
 
The ideal CFO will prepare the finance function for further scale through automation, business control, and actionable management insights — ensuring the company remains well-positioned for sustainable growth.

  • Act as a strategic business partner to the Board and executive team;
  • Build, mentor, and lead the Finance team (currently consisting of 8 professionals);
  • Design and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting (statutory and management);
  • Lead strategic financial analyses to improve profitability (e.g., costs, pricing, project/contract profitability, and investments);
  • Optimize cash flow and working capital management;
  • Prepare the finance function for scale through automation, process improvements, and systems upgrades;
  • Strengthen financial controls, improve reporting quality, and drive process efficiency;
  • Convert strategic goals into financial targets and monitor business performance;
  • Advise on capital financing options to support future growth;
  • Provide financial leadership in M&A activities;
  • Participate in contract negotiations and other legal matters linked to company operations;
  • Liaise with external auditors and banks;
  • Manage the company’s tax position and compliance.

Profiel

  • Qualified accountant with significant and broad post-qualification experience;
  • 10–15+ years of financial leadership experience;
  • A natural and empathetic team player with excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • Strong ability to present strategy, recommendations, and analysis to senior stakeholders;
  • Experience in fast-paced environments (preferably in scale-ups, startups, or high-growth businesses);
  • Proven track record in building and scaling finance teams within companies with revenues between €30M–€100M;
  • Solid understanding of capital markets (e.g., VC, PE, venture debt, and other financing instruments);
  • Experience in improving financial systems, processes, and personnel motivation;
  • Deep expertise in corporate finance and capital structure;
  • Comfortable working at both management level and hands-on with the finance team;
  • Experience in SaaS, software, or eCommerce is preferred but not essential;
  • Strong hands-on experience, entrepreneurial drive, and collaborative approach;
  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP systems and financial modeling;
  • Proven project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills;
  • Prior M&A experience and experience building investor decks are a plus.
