From 1 January 2010, the banking activities are divided into two main business lines: Retail Banking and Commercial Banking. Retail Banking is composed of Retail Netherlands, Retail Belgium, Retail Central Europe, Retail Asia and ING Direct. Commercial Banking also manages ING Real Estate.
From 1 January 2010, the insurance activities are structured by region: Insurance Benelux, Insurance Central & Rest of Europe, Insurance United States, Insurance Latin America and Insurance Asia/Pacific. ING Investment Management is part of the insurance activities.
Assignment
Main objectives of the job
- Developing the accounting policies to be used by the company
and her subsidiaries and all the business units for financial
reporting in the annual accounts, based on IFRS and Dutch
laws and regulations (including DNB and AFM). - The same for the reporting requirements resulting from the
registration of Group with the SEC in the US, based on SEC
regulation - Preparing and providing instructions regarding financial reporting
to business units. Advises Group management and the business
units with respect to the implementation - Establishing and maintaining national and international consultation
related to financial reporting by, and supervision of, financial
institutions.
Key responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Identifying, monitoring and participating – at both a national
and international level – in new regulatory developments
regarding financial reporting by, and supervision of, financial
institutions, particularly with respect to IFRS, US GAAP and the
Dutch Central Bank. Assessing regulations (both drafts and final
versions) and analysing their impact on the company. - Consulting with other financial institutions both nationally and
internationally, as well as with regulatory/supervisory bodies,
ensuring that the company’s positions regarding financial
reporting and supervisory regulations gain maximum support. - Responsible for reviewing the content of the financial reports to be
published by the company and her daughters, in compliance with
the applicable laws and regulations. - Acting as contact for the head office and Business Line management
regarding technical issues on financial reporting and supervision. - Liaising with external auditors and advisors.
- Advising management on positions to be taken in national and
international consultative bodies related to financial reporting
and supervision. - Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete representation
of the company’s principles for financial reporting under IFRS and
US GAAP in the accounting manuals. - Advising business units regarding the accurate and consistent
implementation of the company’s principles for financial reporting
and supervision. - Providing education and training to management and business units
regarding (developments in) the company’s principles for financial
reporting and supervision. - Providing support and advice to other Staff departments with regard
to accounting/reporting issues.
Profile
- Dutch chartered accountant (RA) or equivalent
qualification (e.g. CPA) - Specialist knowledge of, and broad experience with,
the financial sector (banking/insurance) - Specialist knowledge of, and broad experience with,
international regulations (IFRS/USGAAP) - Advanced communication skills
